Metro Shuffle: Darediablo, Primus

This evening, as usual, I plugged in the iPhone before getting on the Metro home. First up: the first tune off Darediablo’s first record, Blue Plush Interior. Only thing is, I can’t remember what the tune is called. Darediablo might not even have been Darediablo at that point. It might have been the Jake Garcia Group or something. Any help, Hammer? Or anybody else?

Anyway, the song has this big ole funky bass line. Nice. So, I’m grooving on that as I get on the Metro. Then I notice, hold on a minute, something is unusual about this Metro car. There’s no carpet! That’s right, most DC subways are carpeted. But this train is brand new. Not only does it have an uncarpeted floor, it is much roomier and much better equipped in terms of poles and straps to hang onto while you’re riding along. It occurred to me that the new train looked more like an NYC subway car than DC Metro.

So, I’ve got a funky Darediablo track all hooked, I’m feeling the new Metro car, and there’s this New York vibe happening too.

Then, at Farragut West, the driver tells us that everybody has to get off the train because of mechanical failure. The Darediablo tune ends.
