Websites

I was very fired up when I first saw this story listing all the collaborative music sites. I still need to explore – register and so on – but that initial enthusiasm has died down a bit. It’s not clear to me, based on a quick scan, that it would be all that much better than creating stuff they way we’ve done it here: sticking a GarageBand file into Box.net and then posting an MP3 once we’re done.
Who knows, though. I’ll poke around and see. Facebook and Twitter don’t make much sense on an initial scan, and I use the shit all the time now. The site I’ll look at first will probably be http://www.indabamusic.com/.
Another one I’m looking at is DailyTunes.com. I’m pretty sure it’s run by the same guy who does MacRumors.com, a site I check regularly. I’ll report back on DailyTunes too. Seems like the premise is the same one driving Fretbuzz.net: sharing thoughts on music.

It’s not clear to me, based on a quick scan of a couple, that it would be all that much better than creating stuff they way we’ve done it here: sticking a GarageBand file into Box.net and then posting an MP3 once we’re done tricking it out.

Another one I’m considering is DailyTunes. It’s not for collaboration but rather just trading listening recommendations. One reason why I’m curious is that I’m pretty sure it’s run by the same guy who does MacRumors.com, a quality site I check regularly.
