No Objections to “No Reply” Down the Road

Last night, I watched all of Phish doing “No Reply at All” at the March 15 Hall of Fame festivities. Having now seen both both of the Genesis covers, I agree with what appears to be the consensus – Phish nailed “Watcher,” but “No Reply” was, as they used to say at a camp where I once worked, “fair to poor.”

That’s not to say I wouldn’t be quite pleased if the band busted out “No Reply” out at Merriweather on June 26.

Anyway, with a hat tip to YEMblog, here’s a good quality video of “Watcher of the Skies” for the record.

Pretty Sure I Just Got #Phish Tickets

I’m not too experienced in the ways of Phish’s lottery system, but I put in for a couple of summer tour tickets, and my credit card just got charged. Looks like I’m going to Merriweather on June 26th.

No Regrets

On Twitter, Markos recounts something that will probably ring familiar to most stock investors.

In 1996, I had $5K I was going to invest in AAPL. Instead, helped pay my future wife’s tuition. Today, that $5K would be worth $1.2 million.

Earlier this century, I noticed that shares of a telecom equipment maker were trading just above a buck. I suspected the stock would likely recover, and it subsequently rebounded up past $20 not long after that. I can’t say that I was on the verge of buying the thing, but it has sort of haunted me since.

Always Nice to Have Something to Look Forward to

Phish 3D, filmed at Festival 8 – the band’s three-day festival which took place on October 30th, 31st and November 1st at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California – will be in theatres nationwide in 3D on April 30th. The band performed 8 sets over the course of the weekend, including a special Acoustic Set on Sunday afternoon. Keeping the tradition of past Halloween shows, they donned a musical costume on Halloween night, covering The Rolling Stones’ album Exile On Main Street.

Yet I Love It So

Responding to a request, Tim F. at Balloon Juice put up a YouTube video of Winger’s “Seventeen.”

A few comments from the thread that followed:

  • No. Nobody requested Winger. YOU CAN’T PUT THIS ON US, MAN!
  • What happened to that guy’s shirt? Was he in an accident or mugged or something? I hope he’s okay.
  • This song is so terrible, and yet I love it so.

This One Goes Out to Max

  • There are many hypotheses in science which are wrong. That’s perfectly all right. It’s the aperture to finding out what’s right. Science is a self-correcting process.
  • In the cosmos, there is no refuge from change.
