LaHood notes that the federal government has $900 million invested in the project [of building a Metro line to Dulles Airport]. He said he wants a solution that “respects the idea that we don’t have a bottomless pit of money.”
Well, maybe we don’t have a bottomless pit of money in this particular instance. Ah, but elsewhere there’s one such pit to be found. Another item I saw in the Washington Post:
The Obama administration has proposed a $553 billion budget for the Pentagon next year, excluding the cost of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

So let’s get one thing straight: The 2012 Toyota Prius V is a station wagon. It’s not a minivan (no sliding doors, no third row) and it’s certainly not a sport utility vehicle or crossover (no all-wheel-drive, no jacked-up ride height).
