“I am not an establishment figure,” [Texas Gov. Rick Perry] said. “I dislike Washington; I think it’s a seedy place.”
So Perry dislikes Washington and thinks it’s seedy. Yet he would like to live here for four (presumably eight) years. He says he’s not an establishment figure, but he’s apparently eager to ascend to the pinnacle of the establishment.
Maybe it’s smart politically, but “running against Washington” strikes me as one of the dumbest things out there.
