GarageBand

I played around more today on the GB app for iPad. It’s definitely satisfying, although my efforts are still fair to poor. I think the key is finding a way to hook up my electric to the iPad. Not sure how to do that yet.

GarbageBand

This is an atrocious ditty that I share here only because it’s my first recording on the iPad GarageBand app. Plenty of room for improvement. Let’s just leave it at that.

More Tricking Out Acoustic Guitar in GarageBand

Playing the Yamaha, I recorded four tracks (in 15 minutes) on my FourTrack app on the iPhone. Then I put everything into GarageBand and slathered on some effects.

GB on iPad 2

Holy smokes. It’s going to be hard to resist this. MacRumors.com:

GarageBand for iPad offers libraries of virtual instruments with both simple touch and more complex “smart” functionalities to allow users to sound like expert musicians with simple gestures. Recording studio functionality allows users to mix together various tracks, with various amps and effects to adjust the sound of individual instruments. The new GarageBand also includes a number of sharing tools to allow users to export their work via email or to their iTunes libraries. GarageBand for iPad is also compatible with the Mac version of GarageBand, allowing for easy movement of projects between devices.

Four Acoustic Tracks Tricked Out with GarageBand Effects

In a spare moment today, I recorded this sort of awful bit of music. I played four parts on the Yamaha acoustic, which went into GarageBand through the built-in mic. Then I futzed with all manner of GB effects.

Russell, Meet the Edge

From the Gilli.es archive. This might be the best tune I ever recorded with other people.

The Cheetah

The first recording of the Gillies Boy Band:

Freshly Tuned Piano

I had the piano tuned today — and learned that the recommended interval between tunings is only six months! Not quite what I was expecting. Jordan Kitts offers a “health plan” for pianos: $464 for four tunings. Yeesh. Here’s what they say in their literature:

Improper or irregular maintenance can cause problems that will become progressively worse, causing your piano to develop an unpleasant tone and an unresponsive touch even if it sounds in tune.

Yeesh.

Here’s the piano, in tune.

Now That’s Weird

GarageBand will take you to some strange places.
