- Rebranding: I’m trying out a new domain. Two reasons for the switch: one, I have a thing for vanity URLs. Second, I’m pondering broadening my blogging subject matter somewhat outside of music. Not really sure about that, though. The narrow focus is working for me, so I may end up sticking with it.
- Ben Folds. He’s playing the 930 club in late March, although it looks like it’s just “Ben Folds and a piano.” Hmmm. I like Ben Folds, but I’d rather see the dude with a good band.
- Wired on NAMM.
I’m fiddling with my blogging set up, and it’s not going well. It’s also eating into my regular blogging time. Boring.

Site maintenance - On second thought, I think I’m going to stick with WordPress.com as my primary blogging apparatus. I’m not abandoning Tumblr – I’m just going to cross post, a la MPomy, to the Tumblr account. Seems easy enough to do.
‘It Might Get Loud’ – I finished up the movie tonight, and I’m sure I’ll be pondering it for a while. There’s a lot to digest. One thing that’s stayed with me is Jimmy Page’s description of his stint at art school. It reminded me of another rock doc I just watched on Joe Strummer, who also studied the fine arts before becoming an international rock megastar.
Guitarbud – I received my GuitarBud and downloaded the accompanying PRS Jam Amp app; I haven’t used either yet. 40 bucks for the app and cable combo – it better be worth it.

Bits and pieces this evening.
- I’m pleased to be trying out Tumblr at the new address. Weird coincidence: I moved into a new office today too.
- I watched another tranche of “It Might Get Loud” this evening. Very satisfying. While watching, I pondered whether there might have been a good sub for Jack White. Not saying White isn’t an interesting, documentary worthy dude. It just might have been cool to have Trey in there is all. You know?
- Speaking of Phish, Mike Gordon is touring in March. No DC dates, unfortunately, and the Baltimore date is on a Tuesday night. Yeeeuh. I don’t know. If the gig started early enough, I could swing it. But last time around, Mike and the guys went on at 10:15pm.
Inspired by Mpomy, I think I’m going to put FBdN on hold, at least for a while, and start using Tumblr to blog at a new address. If the plan goes through, I’ll post the URL here.
This isn’t out of any dissatisfaction with FBdN or WordPress.com – I’m just interested in tinkering a bit with my blogging setup. If the tinkering doesn’t work out, I’ll be back.
Unrelated: this evening, I watched a portion of “It Might Get Loud.” Bits I like particularly so far are when the Edge is talking about the time signatures at the start of “Where the Streets Have No Name” and the story behind the drum sound of “When the Levee Breaks.”

For the next week or so, I’m probably going to be posting just photography at this blog. Hopefully, it’ll be stuff worth sharing.
My nuclear family is returning tomorrow from their travels up north. I’m delighted about that, of course, but it also means it’s back to a relatively tighter blogging schedule for me.
When this two-week stretch began, I wondered the following:
Perhaps the blogging will pick up, as a function of having more free time, or maybe free time isn’t really a factor. Maybe blog output is sort of a constant. You only have so many posts in you per day, in other words.
I’d say things picked up only slightly. I still did about one or two posts a day, which is about what I was doing before. Maybe that’s my constant blog output rate, about 1.3.

This stub is a relic from one of the great gigs I’ve attended, and the show has an intimate connection to this blog. It could be the subject of several blog posts.
I’m trying to work up a longer post on a related note, but I’m having some fierce table troubles. I have to dust off my HTML skills, I think. To be continued.

This weekend marks two occasions.
First, I’m getting a bit sprung loose tomorrow. Spouse and sons of FBdN are taking off for the great state of Maine for two weeks. So, I’ll have a bit more time on my hands than usual. We’ll see what effect this has on my blogging. Perhaps the blogging will pick up, as a function of having more free time, or maybe free time isn’t really a factor. Maybe blog output is sort of a constant. You only have so many posts in you per day, in other words. We’ll see.
Second, as indicated here, greater Washington, DC will welcome MPomy to town. It looks like the weather will be accommodating, if on the warmer side – good news for attendees of ProgNation in Columbia, MD tomorrow. I’m very much looking forward to hanging with MPomy and el Sturjean, the latter being the “R” in RPG Productions. Speaking of, here’s an RPG track from 2004, recorded in R’s basement. We sort of f’d up a key part of the song, but I think the tune holds up pretty well overall.
