Google Docs, A Brief History of Martin Guitars, Chorus Freak
Posted: July 29, 2009 Filed under: Site maintenance | Tags: C.F. Martin & Co., chorus, Effects, GarageBand, Guitars 2 Comments »Couple of bits and pieces this evening.
- To draft these blog posts, I use Google Docs.
- Here, via I Heart Guitar, is a brief history of Martin guitars. Maxwellkeeler, I understand your Martin may or may not have had a run in with an indelible marker? Whatever the case, it evidently didn’t affect the guitar’s sweet sound.
- I made some progress this evening on 072709. Let’s just say I’m having trouble staying away from GarageBand’s effects rack, particularly the chorus. I’m a freaking sucker for chorus. Tune is getting weird, and I hope it gets weirder.

I just whipped up a GarageBand project, 072709, and placed it in the Box.net widget.
This one’s comprised of two guitar tracks. With the relatively larger file size, it took about 2.5 minutes to upload to Box.net. I think it still qualifies as musical microblogging.

Ladies and gentlemen, some more musical microblogging:
It’s amazing how much effort you can pour into one minute of music.
Nothing special on the gear side of things here. Starcaster and Spector went through the MBox into GarageBand. For the vocals, I used the built-in mic on my Mac, then tricked out the two tracks with a little chorus. I actually had to sing, if you want to call it that, fairly quietly, as I didn’t want to alarm my wife upstairs.
This one’s comprised of 11 tracks.

Musical Microblogging: FBdN Does July 5th

Same as usual: everything (Starcaster, Spector bass) on this went through the MBox into GarageBand, and I leaned on GB’s phaser and chorus effects. I thought about adding keys and vox – maybe next time.

File is called 070509. It’s more conventional than the duet.
Musical Microblogging: FBdN Does the Duet
Posted: July 1, 2009 Filed under: Recording | Tags: GarageBand, MBox, musical microblogging 2 Comments »Well, this blog is not a competition, but it appears MPomy’s take on the “duet” has blown the doors off mine. And the chassis. And the engine block, for that matter.
But who wants to self deprecate or fish for compliments? I stand by my recording. Check it:
I did the whole number through GarageBand, with the Starcaster and Spector bass going right into the MBox.

It sounded better on headphones. The second half needs more bass.
