Father Phishmas

Two Phish bits this evening.

First, Phish Thoughts unveils a rather sweet-looking audio archive.

Second, the other day, I got into a discussion about Santa Claus with FBdN son #1. I kept it real agnostic. ‘Legend has it…some people say…’ – that kind of thing.

His take: yes, there is indeed a Santa Claus.

So, in that spirit, I’ve scanned my vast Phish holdings and drawn up a wish-list of tunes that I hope will be played on December 5 down in Charlottesville. Let’s see if I get lucky.

  • Backwards Down the Number Line
  • Brian and Robert
  • Down With Disease
  • Fast Enough For You
  • Ghost
  • The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday
  • Punch You In The Eye
  • Reba
  • Rift
  • Slave To The Traffic Light
  • Time Turns Elastic
  • Waste

Will the Lamb Lie Down in Indio?

lamb jpg

Phish is playing with their fans’ minds again. This time, it’s with this nifty countdown of album candidates that the band might don as their musical costume Halloween night out in Indio, CA. Each day, a record gets axed, literally.

For now, “Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” is still in the hunt, although I think the odds of its survival are low. Who knows, though. Crazier things have happened.

Mr. Miner’s Phish Thoughts has more on this topic.

If I had my druthers, I would have nominated “Selling England by the Pound” – I think Phish could go to town with “The Cinema Show.” Damn. They could even hook Mike Gordon with a double neck.

Two Phish Hits

Well, more like one Mike hit and one Trey hit.

Rudiments

I put this little riff into the voice recorder last night. Perhaps it will develop into something, once my M-Box starts working with my computer again.

Speaking of a song’s rudiments, Mr. Miner’s Phish Thoughts delves into the recent history of “Backwards Down the Number Line.” That’s some quality blogging.

Downloading Beardfish, Uploading Neil, Streaming Phish

That was my triple play this evening. While downloading Beardfish’s new one, “Destined Solitaire,” from the iTunes store, I took the opportunity to upload my CD of Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon” into my iTunes library.

As all that was going on, I cranked up Phish’s “46 Days,” recorded live at Merriweather on 8/15 and conveniently embedded at Mr. Miner’s Phish Thoughts.

So that’s something old, something new, something borrowed, and even, as the picture shows, something blue.
